Vascular Surgery

Vascular surgery treats arterial and vascular diseases that can affect almost any part of the body. We are the leading and largest center treating vascular surgical diseases in Finland. Vascular surgeons treat vascular diseases comprehensively also by means of non-surgical treatments.
We offer the most demanding procedures with regard to peripheral vascular surgery. Vascular surgeons also give opinions on examinations already performed and evaluate the merits of treatment and the best possible treatment method as well as any further examinations that may be required. Other vascular disease specialists from the fields of internal medicine, anesthesiology and radiology often participate in the treatment.

Typically, diseases demanding surgery affect the regions of the neck, abdomen or upper or lower limbs. Among other treatments, we offer cancer treatment in collaboration with oncologists, as in the exemplary case of isolated limb perfusion (ILP). Our other services include surgical treatment of stenoses, aneurysms and tumors of the common carotid arteries, treatment of the arteriovenous fistulae required by hemodialysis and of any complications caused by these, treatment of arteriosclerotic obstruction, removal of arterial tumors, treatment of arterial aneurysms, treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (especially the surgical treatment of demanding vascular diseases) and comprehensive treatment of ulcers of the lower limbs due to anemia.
