PROSTATE PROBLEMS ARE WORTH EXAMINING

Benign prostatic hyperplasia begins to appear in males starting around the age of 40. Prostatic hyperplasia causes urinary abnormalities in about 40% of males over the age of 60 and in well over 50% of those aged 80. The most common symptoms are a sudden or increased urinary frequency and reduced urine flow. Some cases may also involve pain with urination or after-dribble. The symptoms gradually worsen. The earlier the cause of the problem is found, the better the treatment results usually are. Although prostate cancer at a localized stage is usually quite asymptomatic, sometimes the symptoms of prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer can be similar so that sometimes the two can be difficult to distinguish from each other based merely on the symptoms.
